Gwen Beene

Lois Gwendolyn Beene was born on October 7, 1934, in Swink, OK, to Jimmie Elaine (Earthman) and Bert Elbert White the eldest of 8 children and was a lifelong member of the Swink community. She married Earnest Samuel Beene on February 8, 1950. Together, they had three sons. Throughout her life, Gwen always worked. She had many different jobs including working for Robert Julian in his grocery store in Valliant, the Wells Lamont Glove Factory in Hugo, the Weyerhaeuser sawmill in Wright City, the Kellwood Sewing Factory in Idabel, hauling pulp logs with her husband, driving a school bus, and managing Floyd Reed's Otasco/Coast-to-Coast Home and Auto in Valliant. Finally, she went back to school and received her CNA license in order to work at the Golden Age Home in Hugo. She loved caring for her elderly patients. Gwen loved her family and cherished her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking care of her yard and her flowers as well as canning and cooking for her family. She was known by her kids and grandkids for making delicious homemade biscuits, icebox pies, and chicken and dressing. Gwen died on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the age of 83 in Lewisburg, Tennessee.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years, two brothers, Doug White and Claude White, and a sister, Pat White. She is survived by her three sons: Jack Beene and family of Fort Towson, OK; Bob Beene and family of Lewisburg, TN; Doug Beene and family of Valliant, OK; three brothers, Bill White of Swink, OK, Roy Don White of Valliant, OK, Johnny White of Palestine, TX; one sister, Jean McRorey of Talihina, OK, along with 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends.
